Privacy Policy

Effective July 8, 2026

The short version: your resume and the job description are processed to build your analysis, then discarded. We don't store your resume, we don't sell anything, and our analytics never see your content — only anonymous counts.

What happens to your resume and job description

When you run an analysis, the text you paste is sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our server, which sends it to Anthropic's Claude API to generate your match score and rewrite suggestions. Under Anthropic's API terms, your content is not used to train their models. Our server holds a short-lived copy of recent analysis results (so identical re-runs are instant); this cache lives in temporary storage and is erased on every application update — typically within days. We keep no permanent copy of your resume or job description.

Anonymized research data

For each completed analysis, we record a small anonymized summary of the job's requirements and how well they were covered: competency names derived from the job description (for example, "SQL fluency"), their importance weights, coverage scores, and the overall match score. This helps us publish aggregate research such as "the most common skill gaps in marketing resumes."

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the tool is used. It records events (like "analysis started") and sizes (like character counts) — never the content of what you paste. Google Analytics sets cookies; see Google's privacy policy.

Your email address

If you choose to enter your email (for example, to save your results), we store the address and a timestamp. It is not linked to your resume content. To have it deleted, email us at the address below.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe — we never see or store them. If you contact us about a purchase, we look up your payment by email address in Stripe.

Stored in your browser

Notch keeps a few values in your browser's local storage — your free-analysis count, whether you've upgraded, and any resume versions you explicitly save. These stay on your device and you can clear them anytime through your browser settings.

Who we share data with

Only the service providers named above — Anthropic (analysis), Google (analytics), Stripe (payments), and Railway (hosting). We never sell your data, and no one else receives it.
