Resume tailoring tools compared: what each does and what it costs

Prices checked October 15, 2026. Related: how to tailor a resume by hand · resume keywords · how ATS software reads a resume

Most people don't need a paid tool. If you apply to a few roles, a free match report plus your own editing covers it. Paid plans make sense when you apply to many roles a week and want unlimited comparisons, a tracker, and generated cover letters in one place. The table below lists eight tools with the job each one does and its current price, including ours, Notch, which we built and which is disclosed as such.

How we compared them

We compared published feature sets and prices, not performance. Four prices (Jobscan, Huntr, Rezi, Kickresume) were read from the vendor's pricing page on October 15, 2026. Three (Teal, Resume Worded, Enhancv) aren't shown publicly by the vendor or couldn't be loaded, so they come from third-party pricing trackers and are marked. We haven't paid for and run every plan, and this page doesn't claim to. Prices change; check the vendor before buying.

Which to use, by what you need

What the match scores mean

Every tool here that produces a score is measuring overlap between your resume's words and the posting's words, weighted differently. None of them has data on whether you got the interview. Treat a score as a checklist of terms, not a prediction. The two things that reliably move a real application are using the posting's exact terms where they honestly apply, and filling the structured fields the application system searches, which the ATS guides cover system by system.

Try the free one first

Paste a posting and your resume. Notch returns the weighted match, the requirements you cover, partly cover, or miss, and two rewrite options per bullet limited to what your resume can defend.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay for a resume tailoring tool?

Usually not. If you apply to a handful of roles, a free match report and your own editing cover it. Paid plans earn their cost when you apply to many roles a week and want unlimited scans, a tracker, and generated cover letters in one place.

Which tool is best for ATS keyword matching?

Jobscan and Huntr both compare a resume to a single posting and list the missing terms. Jobscan's free tier allows five scans a month; Huntr's allows two tailored resumes. Notch does the same comparison free, with a weighted score rather than a keyword count.

What is the cheapest way to tailor a resume to a job posting?

Read the posting, list its must-have terms, and edit your resume yourself; our guide to tailoring covers the method. Among tools, Notch's free analysis and Jobscan's five free scans cost nothing. Among paid plans, Kickresume's $8 a month on an annual plan is the lowest list price, and it is a builder rather than a matcher.

Is a high ATS match score worth paying for?

No score predicts an interview. A match report is useful for finding terms you left out; it isn't evidence a recruiter will respond. Pay for a plan only if the tool saves you time you measure, not to move a score from 78 to 92.

Does Notch make money if I pick another tool?

No. None of the links on this page are affiliate links, and Notch is listed with the same facts as the others. We built Notch, which is disclosed in the table.
